A Studio Propel Short Film
Before Thanksgiving
A short film about the people behind the holiday table.
The tables get set on Monday. The work starts long before that.
In the days before Thanksgiving, we spent time in the back of house at a Toronto bakery, watching the quiet part of the holiday. Flour on forearms, ovens running before sunrise, trays leaving faster than they come in. No script, no staging. Just a team moving through the busiest week of their year.
No one sees this part. But it's where the holiday begins.
Before Thanksgiving is part of our ongoing short films, where we explore how honest, observational moments can carry a story further than anything polished. The finished product is what people see. The process is what makes them feel something.
